What is Software (Web & Desktop)?
Custom software comes into play when your workflow doesn't fit the mould of off-the-shelf products. If you have to keep several spreadsheets in sync by hand, enter the same data into two systems separately or run a process through email chains, there is a software need.
The criterion is simple: transaction frequency multiplied by the cost of error. Custom software is expensive for a task done three times a month that is easily corrected if wrong; a task repeated dozens of times a day, or one that reaches the customer when wrong, pays for itself within months.
What's included?
- Process analysis and workflow extraction
- Database design
- Web-based or desktop application development
- User roles and authorisation
- External system integrations (accounting, shipping, payment, marketplace)
- Test environment and controlled migration
- Technical documentation and training
How we work
- 01
Process analysis
The current flow is worked out step by step; which steps will be automated is decided.
- 02
Scope and priority
What goes into the first version is written down. Squeezing everything into the first version prolongs the project.
- 03
Prototype
The flow is validated over screen drafts.
- 04
Development
Delivered in parts, each part usable.
- 05
Testing and migration
First in a test environment, then live with a small data set.
- 06
Handover
Schema, access details and error notification routine are delivered.
What determines the price?
Since every project is different, we don’t give a single list price. The items that determine the quote are:
- Number of screens and processes
- Whether the external systems to integrate have a documented API
- Complexity of user roles and permissions
- Whether data migration is needed
- Scope of post-delivery maintenance and development
